Welcome to Second Grade!
Second grade students are just starting to create artwork using letters and numbers like Stuart Davis did in his artwork. We talked about where we see letters around us and what they are supposed to be telling us. We then talked about the different ways that we can create our letters. I showed the students many different fonts they can use in their artwork. The students then break up the space on their paper by writing the letters of their name in different areas on the paper. They will then add bright colors to their artwork to mimic the collage style of Stuart Davis.
